It’s been a while and I haven’t posted on Luke’s 1st
Birthday (back in November!) YIKES!
Luke, or any kid, turning ONE is a big deal for first time
parents….So, we went all out! Decorations, colors, banner, food, cake, family &
fun! It was a great time and Luke thoroughly enjoyed the balloons and
streamers, which happened to stay up a week before falling down.
Then life got a little crazier and we found out on Luke’s
1st Birthday that we are pregnant and adding kid #2 to our crazy clan in the
Summer of 2014!
Christmas came and went, as well as the New Year (which I
fell asleep promptly at 9, as always), while Tyler rang in the new year at a
church get together that lasted until 11! Woohoo, crazy kids we are! I failed
to mention that I made 12 T-Shirt Quilts for Christmas in a matter of 6 weeks!
Wow, I was busy and it’s nice to enjoy a hobby from home and make some extra
cash from this stay-at-home-mom standpoint!
Jumping to now.
So, I am currently 14 weeks and we have heard a healthy
heartbeat and had one sonogram. We are thrilled and I am so excited to see Luke
as a BIG brother!!
A few things that changed in Luke’s schedule at the 14 month
mark was that he showed he was ready to go from 2 naps (10am and 2pm) to just 1
nap. We play in the morning, eat lunch and he will go down shortly after lunch.
We are still working on making it last around 2 hours. Tons of teeth coming in
now, so around the 90 minute mark he seems to get uncomfy, but mom comes in to
save the day, or should I say oragel does! Luke also just recently stopped
getting the warm milk before bed. We offer him some in his sippy as he’s
winding down in the living room. I also did away with the baby bath rub within
the larger bath and HE absolutely loves splashing around in his big boy bath.
Just 2 weeks ago, Luke signs “poop” once he’s gone in his diaper, but this
specific day he told me prior, so I put him on the potty training toilet and he
went! I am keeping it out just in case he shows any more interest in the weeks
to come. I have been reading about how the US is really SLOW in training our
youngins to go on the potty and frankly I am SICK of cloth diapering and don’t
want 2 in diapers come this summer!
Luke enjoys EATING (some fav foods are avacados/all
veggies&fruit, cheese sticks, yogurt, sipping my tea, and bugles!), playing
with legos, Chloe, and his blankie. He’s a little hooked to the paci, but I
only let him have it at bedtime. We took him to Children’s Discovery Museum for
the first time last Friday and he was in play-zone heaven. We bough a year
pass, knowing we will most definitely get our $ worth!
The title of this blog should really change to read “The
life & details of my kids,” but I guess I’ll talk about us a bit! We
ventured with 40+ teens and adults to Winter Retreat 2014 up in WI just a few
weeks ago and it was a GREAT trip. We have the best group of teenagers,
respectful, fun & we have seen so much spiritual growth take place in their
lives. God is at WORK! (Luke stayed with nana & papa, and returned home a
LOT spoiled!) haha. SO Thankful for Godly grandparents who take him when we are
serving & they serve us beyond words! I think I could write a blog about
how awesome my in-laws are, no joke. It makes a difference that they have the
biggest hearts for the Lord, encouraging and contagious, love them to death!
I look forward to the spring, prepping another nursery and
enjoying a trip to Florida. We have had the NASTIEST winter with worlds record
amount of snow days at the local schools. More snow to come on my Birthday too!
